Board of Appeals approves garage variance with setback and height conditions.

Board of Appeals · Meeting of April 29, 2026

Millbury Board of Appeals approves garage variance with conditions for cardiac-team hardship. Applicant Andrew Maxwell at 18 Maple Lane won approval 4 to 1 for a two-car garage with a maximum height of 24 feet and front setback of five feet after Clerk Michael Georges' motion and a failed amendment by Harold Proodian to restrict height. Maxwell cited his wife's on-call status at Boston Children's Hospital as substantial hardship justifying the setback variance.

The board also unanimously continued Katherine Fairbanks' three appeals for 5, 7, and 19 McGrath Road to May 27, 2026, as Attorney Henry Nydam committed to cleanup of materials and disputed claims of commercial operations.
