MILLBURY — Conservation Commission discusses MADEP appeal on Lake Singletary drawdown conditions. Rebecca Gendreau of MADEP raised seven concerns with the Sutton Conservation Commission's Orders of Conditions, including insufficient consultation with Mass Fish and Wildlife and a five-foot drawdown exceeding guidance in the Final Generic Environmental Impact Report. Chairperson Ronald Stead and members Jeffrey Raymond, Samuel Hill, Paul DiCicco, and Stacey Reed heard from Lake Singletary Association officials defending the drawdown's two-decade success record and private property protection.
Agent Don Flynn proposed developing flow analysis of the dam gate and noted that water-level gauges already exist. The commission outlined five summary points for resolution, including consulting Mass Fish and Wildlife and having both town conservation commissions review proposed orders to avoid conflicts.
