Finance Committee OKs Blackstone Valley Tech budget discussion.
Finance Committee · Meeting of March 25, 2026
MILLBURY — Finance Committee reviews Blackstone Valley Tech budget cuts and changes. Dr. Matt Connors, Assistant Superintendent, reported a 3.95 percent health insurance increase, a zero percent teacher base raise with continuing step increases, and the elimination of eight full-time positions necessary to meet budget targets in a school where 88 percent of spending is fixed.
The district is drawing $250,000 from reserves and received a 1.81 percent state aid increase; regional transportation costs rose $51,503. Five committee members questioned the fairness of state minimum contribution calculations and discussed BVT's newly implemented lottery system for admissions, which limits Millbury to a minimum of 24 seats despite a target enrollment of 77 students across all grades.
