Finance Committee unanimously backs $63.1M budget, approves sewer commissioner pay increase.
Finance Committee · Meeting of March 18, 2026
MILLBURY — Finance Committee unanimously recommends $63.1 million fiscal 2027 General Fund budget with sewer commissioner pay bump. Chair Charles Cooper and the committee voted to increase sewer commissioner compensation by $500 annually, the first raise in 19 years, drawing from the Sewer Enterprise Fund rather than general revenue. Vice Chair William Pratt voiced concern about setting a precedent during a year of projected layoffs but voted in favor.
The committee also approved 14 of 21 warrant articles while deferring zoning and housing authority articles to other boards, and flagged that school roof projects came in $4.7 million under estimate, requiring a follow-up meeting to adjust debt figures.
