Fire board approves equipment, sets gear requirements for emergency response

Millbury fire board approves new rescue equipment and establishes strict emergency-response procedures. The Board of Fire Engineers unanimously approved purchases of four personal flotation devices, four rescue slings, and six speed lay straps at the August 17 meeting. The board also established new protocols requiring firefighters to be fully geared at emergency scenes and restricting personal vehicle response to Chief Officers only.

Chief Mark C Strom presided over the five-member board, which also reviewed Standard Operating Guidelines with Captain Brian Dalton and FF Myles Hebert regarding temporary Station 5 assignment. Deputy Chief Peter J Balkus is investigating generator battery replacement quoted at $2,500.
