Millbury Remains at Significant Drought Level, State Confirms

MILLBURY — Millbury remains under a Significant drought designation, state environmental officials confirmed this week, as the town's schools rolled out back-to-school logistics and selectmen prepare to meet Thursday.

TOWN HALL

The Central Massachusetts region, which includes Millbury, remains at a Significant drought level, according to an update posted to the town's official News Flash feed. The determination comes from Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper, whose office reviewed conditions across several Massachusetts regions as of Aug. 7. The town's posting did not detail new local water restrictions beyond the existing designation, but residents can expect continued conservation guidance while the designation holds.

The Board of Selectmen holds its regular meeting Thursday at Town Hall.

SCHOOLS

Millbury Public Schools announced that lunch menus for the new school year are now live, part of a broader push of back-to-school information posted by the district ahead of the fall term. Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School posted grade-by-grade summer reading and summer math lists for grades 3 through 6, along with school supply lists and teacher wish lists for families preparing for opening day. The district also flagged upcoming school tours as part of its back-to-school rollout, though specific tour dates were not listed on the district site as of this week.

COMING UP

The Board of Selectmen meets Thursday, Aug. 20, at Town Hall.
