Millbury School Committee unanimously approves cell phone policy and receives FY27 budget presentation. Chair Christopher Wilbur and the full five-member committee adopted Policy JlCJ governing cell phone and personal communication device use during instructional time after legal counsel review. Superintendent Gregory Myers, Assistant Business Manager Patrick Mara, and Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations Richard Bedard, Jr. presented the Fiscal Year 2027 Proposed School Budget, detailing increases in major funding categories and programmatic assumptions.
The committee also received updates on roof repair projects at Elmwood Street School and the Jr./Sr. High School, where assessed values of $13.4 million and $20.1 million respectively remain substantially below insurance valuations of $25.1 million and $42 million; Town Assessor Coung Tran agreed to investigate comparable assessments and insurance valuation methodology.
