State Drought Advisory Remains Active for Millbury This Summer

A Significant Drought designation remains in effect for Central Massachusetts, with state environmental officials' advisory still posted on Millbury's official channels and residents urged to reduce water use as summer heat deepens.

TOWN HALL

Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Rebecca Tepper's drought update — issued June 9 and still active — places the Central Region at a Significant Drought Level. Residents are encouraged to cut nonessential outdoor water use, particularly irrigation, while the designation remains in effect.

On a lighter note, the town's Farmers Market is set to continue at the Asa Waters Mansion on July 16, with local vendors and live entertainment on the grounds.

SCHOOLS

Sixth-grade families at Raymond E. Shaw Elementary School can now register for the Nature's Classroom fall trip. Registration forms may be dropped off at Shaw Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or submitted by email to the school.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Millbury Public Library's summer reading program is in full swing for readers of all ages — children, teens, and adults — with prizes for books read and separate registration for special events. The library at 128 Elm Street is also highlighting media literacy resources, including a video guide on spotting AI-generated content and false claims online, as part of an ongoing partnership with NewsGuard.
