Capital projects advance on schedule as Millbury schools open

Millbury schools open with 1,600 students as capital projects progress. Superintendent Gregory Myers reported enrollment at Elmwood (467, up 16), Shaw (489, up 23), and Jr./Sr. High School (701, down 6) for the first day of classes.
Business Manager Patrick Mara said roof and HVAC replacement at both Elmwood and Jr./Sr. High School are on schedule for substantial completion September 16, with full heating by October 6. The School Committee tabled proposed amendments to bullying prevention and graduation ceremony policies, deferring further review to the September 24 meeting.
