Commission Closes Lake Singletary Hearing, Delays Order
Conservation · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Millbury Conservation Commission closes Lake Singletary drawdown hearing, awaits state sign-off. Conservation Agent Don Flynn and Lake Singletary Watershed Association President Paul Koalas told the commission the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is close to issuing a superseding order authorizing a five-foot lake drawdown starting around October 15, but the panel closed the public hearing without issuing its own order of conditions so DEP's final terms could be incorporated first. Solitude Lake Management's Dominic Moringolo said the drawdown negotiations have dragged on for nearly a year.
Elsewhere, commissioners approved $21,058.35 for a Kubota utility vehicle and $258.50 in bridge gravel for the volunteer Trails Committee, which has raised $44,501 toward a $50,000 trail-design grant match and asked the town to cover the remaining $4,600. The commission also closed hearings and cleared National Grid's E5/F6 transmission pole-replacement project and an accessory dwelling unit amendment at 49 Davis Road.
