High school attendance policy shifts from punitive to proactive model

Millbury School Committee adopts high school attendance policy emphasizing support over penalties. The Committee voted unanimously (5-0) to shift the Jr./Sr. High School Student Handbook policy from a credit-focused punitive system to a proactive intervention model, defining chronic absenteeism at 18 days and establishing a three-tiered system of counselor and administrative meetings.
Members also voted 4-0-1 to appoint Lizz Boutiette as the district's Title IX Coordinator/Sexual Harassment Grievance Officer, with Patric Mara as alternate coordinator. Rental income from school facilities for fiscal 2026 through June 9 totaled $173,727.
