Millbury Sewer Panel OKs New Drain Layer License
Water · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Millbury Sewer Commission clears $792 in billing abatements and licenses a new drain layer. The commission approved a $761.40 abatement for an Elmore Avenue account after field crews ran a smoke test and a dye test and found the property, billed for sewer service for years, was never actually connected and instead runs on a septic system; staff said the treasurer's office recommended refunding roughly two to three years of payments. A second abatement of $31 covered a billing spike staff attributed to "a hose left on by one of the tenants," calculated against the commission's current rate of $15.50.
The commission also licensed Steven Sofa of Sofa Construction Company Inc. as a new drain layer, tied to a pending sewer disconnection permit application at 10 South Main Street. All votes passed without recorded opposition.
