Millbury Finance Panel Reviews Fall Warrant Options
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 9, 2026
Millbury Finance Committee gets first budget briefings from two newly arrived town officials. Town Clerk Nicola O'Brien, on the job since mid-July, told the panel her office's professional development budget of $250 doesn't cover her $195 in required clerk-association dues, while flagging that a Special Town Meeting warrant must be set at least 45 days out and posted 14 days ahead. Interim Finance Director Vanessa Hill, introducing herself for the first time, said an estimated $500,000 repair to the Millbury High School gym floor, damaged when roof construction ruptured a sprinkler line, began the day of the meeting, funded from the general fund pending insurance reimbursement.
"It's not, I'm not trying to pull a fast one," O'Brien told members regarding her budget request. Members separately learned a boiler has been out since summer at the town-owned "mansion" building, with a replacement out to bid. The committee approved its August 12 minutes unanimously.
