Veterans to visit Millbury schools ahead of Veterans Day

The Town of Millbury announced a schedule of Veterans Day events in which local veterans will visit schools and other locations around town between Nov. 9 and Nov. 14.
On Nov. 9, veterans are scheduled to visit Elmwood Street School at 40 Elmwood Street at 9 a.m., Shaw Elementary School at 58 Elmwood Street at 10 a.m., and CareOne Millbury at 312 Millbury Avenue at 2 p.m.
On Nov. 10, veterans will go to Millbury Memorial Jr/Sr High School at 12 Martin Street, where a light breakfast is planned at 8:30 a.m. followed by a panel program at 9 a.m.
On Nov. 14, a flag removal is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Central and St. Brigid Cemeteries.
Veterans Day falls on Nov. 11 and originated as Armistice Day marking the end of World War I; it was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all U.S. veterans. The town thanked veterans who have served, are serving and have passed.
